it is a degenerative condition but some people do really really well on the drug and stick on it, some people even get periods of remission.

Hi Sheila

The meds are so good now at controlling the disease as opposed to just the symptoms that the progression can be slowed down to a remarkable level. The earlier the disease is treated effectively the better the result.

Sometimes the immune system can change along the way making the drugs lose their efficacy. No-one knows for sure yet why this happens, it's a kind of mutation process, but research is ongoing. However the current climate providing a good selection of drug therapies bodes well for future treatment.

I live in Thornton Cleveleys, just north of Blackpool. I know Preston well, I used to work in Legal Aid in the city centre, many years ago!
